   A hybrid is a combination of two or more unlike things. So, a hybrid plant may or may not be difficult to grow. It most likely is that someone found characteristics they liked in one and also in another, and then they merged the two.

   To get to your question, a HYBRID golf club is a merging of a fairway wood and an iron. Fairway woods (3,4,5 wood) are often difficult to hit from the rough. Yet, low irons (2,3,4,5) are often difficult to hit accurately. So, golf manufacturers made clubs that have lofts of irons (the club degree), but it has the mass of a fairway wood. So, the club hits farther and, often times, more accurately.

   Hybrid clubs are pretty cool actually. They are like iron/driver(look more like drivers). Like I have a 3 and 4 hybrid clubs, i dont have a 3 and a 4 iron, they are in replace for the 3 and 4 irons. They pretty much give you the straightness that an iron gives you, with the distance of a driver, hope I helped.

   the hybrid replaces the irons. usually a 3 or a 4 or maybe even a 5. it combines the straight hitting charicteristics of irons w/ the low center of gravity like a higher lofted wood. they are normally 2/3 or so the size of a fairway wood. they work alot better in the rough then a wood. and you can get the same amount of distance on them that you can w/ a low iron or a wood.

   This club replaces irons especially the long irons, easier to hit and the ball goes higher which makes it easier to stop on the green.

   The term hybrid means a combination of two things. In golf, hybrids are a combination of an iron and a wood, hopefully having the best qualities of both–or the distance of the wood with the better control of the iron.

   It is a cross between an Iron and a Wood. It is easier to hit than an Iron or a Wood.

   Hybrid is an alternative to anything. I.E. hybrid clubs are alternatives to traditional clubs. In this case, long irons(2, 3, & 4).
