  1. I would suggest that you get rid of your 3 and 4 iron and replace them with 2 hybrids of 22 and 25 deg ,they are easier to hit and have higher flight. Your 18 deg hybrid is similar to your 5 wood so you could get rid of one of those and add an approach wedge approx 50 to 52 deg to your set.
If you want to make your old irons look better take them to a pro would buff them for you, at a small cost.
A good wash in soapy warm water and scrub them with a brush, rinse and dry, you can try some cutting compound on the woods and removes rust and grime from steel shafts, it gets rid of mishit marks from the wood heads.
    Hope that may help you

  2. First question: Warm water, Mild detergent, a toothbrush, and some elbow grease…

Second question: With all the hybrids and wedges and whatnot available, there is no such thing as a *basic* 14 clubs anymore. Please give a club list of what you carry.

    Fore!

EDIT: Alrighty then… I’d drop the 5 wood, Driving Iron, and 3 Iron. Replace them all with a good 3 Hybrid. If one is your ‘goto’ club for the course you play most often then put it back in. I would suggest you fill the 14th spot with another wedge like a 50 or 52 degree Gap Wedge.

You might want to look at dropping the 4 Iron too. Maybe even the 5 if you don’t hit it well.

  3. If you have chrome plated irons polish the heads and shafts with chrome polish replace the grips and you’re ready to go. For those stainless steel clubs an SOS pad will work wonders and restore the shine. Metal woods will look like new when shined up with some furniture polish. Furniture polish will also clean up graphite shafts. The biggest additions to bags for the past few years are the hybrid clubs to replace those difficult to hit long irons. A lot of players have been replacing wedges frequently and experimenting with different lofts.

  4. Buy a hybrid (called rescue sometimes).
