This record was established by Robert Mitera at Miracle Hill Golf Club in Omaha, Nebraska on the 7th of October 1965. He hit the ball in a hole from the distance measured 408 meters. So the golfer put the ball in the 10th hole. By sportswomen this record makes up 359 meters and belongs to Marie Robie. The record was set up in 1949.

Sam Jackson Snead (1912-2002) was an American professional golf player. Sam Snead was born in Ashwood, Virginia. The golfer was among the top players in the course of most 4 decades. Being a student at the High School Snead was a distinguished sportsman. First he played football. But after the hand injury, Snead was carried away by golf.

Samuel Snead managed to attract attention of the audience due to several wins in professional golf in 1937. In 1946 the golfer won his first major PGA title.

After doing the military service during the World War 2, Snead returned to professional sport. In 1946 he won at Open British Golf Championship. In 1949 the golfer managed to gain two wins: at PGA and Masters. Sam Snead received the third title in his career in 1951. The golfer won Masters for three times, in 1952 for the second time and in 1954 for the third time. In 1960 together with Arnold Palmer, Jimmy Demaret (in 1961), Snead gained two wins for the American team during the Canadian Championship.

The sportsman got the nickname “Slamming Sammy” as he was admired for “perfect swing”. At Golf Association, Sam Snead was in the lead in size of winnings. The golfer won 51 PGA events more than any other golf player in the history of this sport.

Sam Snead was famous for his folksy style. The golfer who wore a straw hat used to play barefoot during golf tournaments. His favorite statement was the following one: “Keep close count of your nickels and dimes, stay away from whiskey, and never concede a putt.” In 1974 Sam Jackson Snead was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. In 1998 the golfer earned the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award.
